history

Texas Gulf Construction Co., Inc. (TG) was originally incorporated in 1934 by W. A. Kelso. Today it continues a long family tradition of involvement in the construction industry throughout the Gulf Coast areas of Texas.

The company specializes in constructing heavy marine and dock facilities, bridges, pile driving work, foundations, dredging, ferry landings, port facilities, marinas, terminals, wharf construction, fender systems, bulkheads, dock/pier construction and restoration, heavy lifts, design/ build, and construction management.

The company maintains and owns a large marine fleet with cranes up to 300 tons (Manitowoc 2250 Series III). Other equipment includes push boats, spud barges, material barges, pile hammers, clamshell/ dragline buckets, tractor/trailers, loaders, backhoes, and dozers.

TG has two marine yards located between the Pelican Island Bridge and Galveston Causeway on Harborside Drive in Galveston, Texas. Both yards are less than two miles away from the Intercoastal Waterway allowing quick and easy access for any mobilization along the inland Texas coast. One yard is equipped with a 310’ x 95’ graving dock able to accommodate vessels with up to a 12’ draft.

TG is also able to cast square pre-stressed concrete piling along with pre-stressed deck slabs. A distinct advantage with TG’s precast/pre-stress yard is that all products can be directly loaded onto a barge to avoid any trucking freight.
